Turning Forty is an honest book that encourages us to reflect on how to transition into a stage of our lives that, for some people, can be full of challenges. In this work, the author narrates with humor and a touch of vulnerability the personal, emotional, and professional changes that accompany this life process, inviting us to accept it as an opportunity to grow and mature. In my personal opinion, I think it is an inspiring book that clarifies our doubts and fears while encouraging us to value the things we have learned and helping us to project ourselves toward a more conscious future. I highly recommend this book to those who wish to reinvent themselves with motivation and maturity.

"Turning Forty" by Mitch Rubman is a candid and humorous look at the bewildering crossroads of midlife. With sharp wit and heartfelt moments, Rubman follows characters who are trying to make sense of aging, missed opportunities, and the unexpected chances that still appear. The story blends comedy with thoughtful reflection, capturing the mix of discomfort and growth that comes with turning forty. It’s relatable, honest, and ultimately reassuring — a reminder that midlife can be less of a crisis and more of a reset.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's truly crazy

This work has a symbolic mix of events that seems to border on the absurd and the madness of a man who is faced with the prospect of turning 40 while his life takes some unexpected turns.
The book is brilliant, not so much because of the protagonist's actions, but because of the symbolism and the emotional and internal rationality it conveys. Being 30 years old, in many ways I identified with the character's way of accepting what life is bringing him as he reaches middle age. At first glance, it may seem like a book about crazy or controversial actions, but I also see it as a true critique of following models established by society for years and, at a certain point, finding that all the work has yielded few fruits on the path to happiness.
To be honest, I thought it was excellent. I have recommended it to all my friends, and I can't wait to discuss it and hear their impressions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forty - Reframed!

Turning Forty by Mitch Rubman is a thoughtful, candid exploration of a milestone often loaded with anxiety and expectation. With humor and honesty, Rubman reflects on aging, identity, ambition, and the recalibration that comes when youth-driven timelines fade. The book balances personal anecdotes with broader observations, making it easy for readers to see themselves in the narrative. Rather than framing forty as decline, Rubman presents it as a pivot point—where self-awareness deepens and priorities sharpen. Insightful without being heavy, Turning Forty resonates with anyone questioning where they are, where they’re headed, and how to embrace the next chapter with clarity.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new look after forty

Sometimes we see forty as a milestone that feels frightening, when it can actually be a very interesting stage of life. I liked how this book shares the idea that getting older is not something to be ashamed of, but something that can bring more clarity about what truly matters. The light and humorous way the passing of time is presented helped me feel calmer about my own changes.
It also left me with the feeling that we do not have to have everything solved at a certain age. Many times, we put too much pressure on ourselves to meet expectations that are not always our own. This book reminded me that growing is natural and that each stage has its own value. When I finished it, I felt calm and grateful for everything I have lived.

I'm not even 40 yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It teaches us to reflect on this stage of life, which can be a complex time for some, but also a time that can create lasting memories. I really like how the author presents the book; it's written with humor and a great deal of vulnerability, reflecting the personal and emotional changes we experience at this stage. Ultimately, it's a vital part of our lives. I think it's an incredible book because it sheds a lot of light on what we'll experience in the future and helps us to have a much more conscious future. It's definitely a book I value highly, and I recommended it to my older brother, who is approaching this age. I highly recommend it!
