The victims fatally shot at a Texas elementary school Tuesday include 19 children — at least four of whom were fourth-graders — and two teachers trying to protect them, relatives told news outlets.
The students and educators were days from the end of the school year when they were fatally shot Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, west of San Antonio.
The daughter of the longtime teacher who was gunned down in the Robb Elementary School massacre in Texas said her mother died heroically shielding her fourth-grade students from a barrage of bullets.
Eva Mireles’ daughter, Adalynn Ruiz, posted an emotional tribute on Facebook, saying that her 44-year-old mother “selflessly jumped in front of her students to save their lives.”
“Mom, I have no words to describe how I feel right now, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life,” Ruiz wrote. “Mom, you are a hero. I keep telling myself that this isn’t real. I just want to hear your voice.”
The massacre in Uvalde, Texas, claimed the lives of 19 children and two adults, including Mireles and her co-worker, Irma Garcia.
